Pre-arrival and orientation
Arriving in a new country for the first time can be daunting. To help with the transition our International Office runs a Welcome Programme and coach pick-up service for new international students in September each year.
The programme takes place the week before the start of term (Week One) and offers new students the opportunity to get to know our campuses, meet other international students and complete essential processes, such as registration and opening a bank account.
We also have information on our website on how to prepare for Nottingham, what to do on arrival in the UK and transition tips to help you settle in.
Accommodation
The University of Nottingham offers a wide range of student accommodation from university-catered halls to self-catered student villages which are owned and managed by external developers. You can find full details at www.nottingham.ac.uk/accommodation/accommodationoptions.
The University has several accommodation sites, all either on or within easy walking distance of the campus and a short travelling distance from the city centre.
If you are looking for accommodation in the private rented sector, the University of Nottingham can assist you in finding the right property for your needs through Unipol. For more information on finding your perfect room please visit www.nottingham.ac.uk/accommodation.
The University of Nottingham guarantees university-arranged accommodation to all international undergraduate students for 3 years if they firmly accept their offer and apply before the deadline. Terms and conditions apply. For the latest accommodation fees and to find out more visit www.nottingham.ac.uk/accommodation.
Whichever guaranteed accommodation you live in, you’ll have internet access to help with independent study and to make staying in touch with family and friends easier.
Self-catered halls offer longer contracts that allow students to stay in their room over vacation periods if needed. Catered halls require students to move out at the end of each term.
In 2014–15, fees for accommodation start at £92 per week for a standard room in self-catered accommodation; £116 per week for part-catered; and £158 per week for catered. These fees are likely to increase for 2015–16 – for the most up to date information, please see www.nottingham.ac.uk/accommodation
